Been recently AWOL – why?
As you might have noticed, this news-page hasn’t be seeing a lot of love from my side in over a year and a half!
Why was I AWOL (sort of speak) from this website since late-2017? What happened, since I’ve been absent for so long?
Saturday, the 6th of January 2018, I suffered a stroke (to be exact: a Cerebral Infarction; what’s this – read more here, regarding: link1, link2)!
And from I could gather from the physician, whom I spoke with before getting discharged from the hospital, I’ve apparently had “several“,
undiagnosed strokes over the recent years – a factoid which made things just a little bit scarier!
Anyways, after 4 months sick-leave, 3 months worth of ergo-therapy, and a number of months of getting back into groove of things (something which is still going on) and almost a year of rehab to come to terms with the residual effects from the stroke (some which I still battle with to this day, and most likely will be doing so for the rest of my life), I’m still trying to feel my way around the edges of what was previously my life.
Fortunately, to my grand and glorious luck – I could’ve been worse off (i.e: severely cognitively impaired or even be deceased); although some things have gotten better, there definitely some things that I’m dealing with on a day to day basis, and which have been diagnosed by the doctors as being stationary – i.e.: things that won’t change for the better, things such as my now daily recurring spells of mental fatigue, issues with short-term memory and challenges regarding my concentration-span; things that I’m (still) trying to improve to this day – mainly by by constantly improving my knowledge and skills regarding anything and everything web-related, or by mixing the occasional set – either on my lap-top or on my two 1210’s and mixer! The latter activity-combo has actually improved invariably my left-right body-coordination, IMHO!
But at the end of day, I have had and still have full support from my wife, my kids, my family (most of them), my friends and extended network – that plus I’m still alive and somewhat normal functioning, which trumps any of the alternatives! And for that I’ll remain eternally grateful!
This is why I’ve been sort of AWOL in 2018 and the most 2019!
