AMP – R.I.P.
As you might (or might not) have noticed, this site’s AMP-link (the lightning-icon that was earlier present on this site’s menu) has now been removed; in other words, this site no longer has an AMP-version, as Google does not support AMP any longer since June 2021, according to this blog-post on plausible.io.
As stated in plausible.io’s blog-post, since Google AMP is no longer required to rank, there is no longer any preferential treatment for Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) in Google’s search results, Top Stories carousel and the Google News.
Google will even remove the AMP badge icon from the search results. (Source: Google)
So, based in on this, I’ve now decided (albeit with some delay from my side of things) to finally follow suit and safely ignore Google AMP in my current (and future) websites!
Thanks for reading this! D.
